  • Projected Capacitive Touch Screen

    Projected capacitive touch screens use an electrostatic field created by an electrical current that passes through a grid of electrodes formed or etched on the sensor surface from a conductive material. When a finger or other conductive object interferes with the electric field projected by the screen over its surface and changes the capacitance of the electric field, the system will register a touch. The screen's controller can then calculate the touch position from the X/Y coordinates, and most controllers support multiple touch detection and touch gestures (pinch to zoom, zoom in, rotate, etc.).

     

    Advantages

    Compared with other touchscreen technologies, projected capacitive touchscreens have the advantages of superior optical performance, long service life, and resistance to damage. They are widely used in consumer electronics, home appliances, retail, and gradually replace resistive and SSAW screens, widely used in commercial, industrial and medical, etc.

    • Multi-touch capability – up to 50 touch points, plus gesture support (pinch to zoom, rotate, etc.).
